Beyond Cancer — The Newton Sixth Form
A youth-led organisation raising awareness for those suffering from cancer. This page exists so every supporter can see exactly why we started, what we're working toward, and everything we've done along the way.
My family's battle with cancer began before I was old enough to understand it. My paternal grandmother, a single mother who raised my dad and uncle, lost her life to cancer when I was just a year old. More than a decade has passed, but the grief never completely left our home. Every Mother's Day, hearing my father's quiet tears is a painful reminder of the lasting void the disease leaves behind.
Years later, the terror hit closer to home. An X-ray revealed a large tumor in my mother. I still vividly remember the sterile smell of the hospital sheets, the hushed murmurs of the medical team, and my vision blurring under the harsh hospital lights.
While we were incredibly fortunate that her tumor was benign, the scare forced me to look closer at our family history. On my mother's side, cancer—particularly breast cancer—has taken a heavy toll. Some survived, but many were not as fortunate.
We built this page so anyone — donors, volunteers, students, or families affected by cancer — can see exactly what Beyond Cancer Newton stands for and has accomplished.
The four goals driving every activity we run, from research to fundraising.
Fundraisers, National Cancer Day events, literature reviews, and posters from our Instagram.
